The Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival is a summer celebration born from the crystal-clear waters of the Tamjin River, Jangheung Dam, and Deukryang Bay. Over the years, it has grown into a vibrant gathering that shares the clean, natural beauty of Jangheung with visitors from across the country — a place where the community and its guests come alive together.
This festival is a little different from the usual fare of performances and exhibitions. With "water" — something universally familiar and welcoming — as its theme, we set out to create a festival where the line between spectator and participant simply disappears. Every program is connected by that single thread of "water," offering adults a rediscovery of long-forgotten simplicity, and children the ultimate playground to run, splash, and play freely.
Designated as a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism 2026 Designated Cultural Tourism Festival, the event has firmly established itself as one of Jangheung's signature brands, alongside Pyeonbaek Forest Woodland and the Jeongnamjin Saturday Market.
This year, the 19th Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival runs for 9 days, from July 25 to August 2, welcoming you with an even more expansive festival grounds and a richer, more colorful lineup of programs. More than just a spectacle to watch, it promises to be a time of wholesome joy — where pristine nature and warm-hearted people come together as one.

There is no separate admission fee for the Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival. However, a small fee applies for participating in hands-on experience programs. You can check the fees on this website (Jangheung Water Festival official site) under Event Guide → Experience Programs & Fees. Adult participants will receive a ₩2,000 Jangheung-gun local specialty voucher along with their experience fee payment — be sure to use it within the festival period. Free activities include the world's biggest water fight and the Salsudaecheop street parade.
If you're visiting Jangheung, the must-try dish is Jangheung Samhap — a beloved local specialty featuring Hanwoo beef raised in Jangheung, pen shell clams harvested from Deungnak Bay, and Jangheung-grown shiitake mushrooms, all grilled together for a rich, harmonious flavor from the freshest local ingredients.
Another summer highlight you won't want to miss is Doenjang Mulhoe (doenjang cold raw fish soup). Made with lightly fermented young radish kimchi, fresh slices of raw fish, and refreshing ice, this unique Jangheung dish is the perfect appetite-whetter on a hot summer day.
Both Jangheung Samhap and Doenjang Mulhoe are available at a variety of local restaurants within a 10-minute walk of the festival grounds. Enjoy the festival and treat yourself to the wholesome, delicious flavors Jangheung has to offer!
Light rain, such as a passing shower, won't significantly affect the festival. In fact, given the nature of a water festival, a little rain can add a uniquely fun twist to the experience! (Note: in the event of strong winds, heavy downpours, or lightning that pose a safety risk, some programs may be adjusted according to on-site guidance.)
Four shower buildings are available within the festival grounds, and they are free to use.
